Know about Generic Zantac
A class of drugs called histamine receptor antagonists is Zantac which acts by decreasing the amount of acid the stomach produces. It means the drug is not harmful for an unborn baby. Pregnant women are recommended to consult physicians before administering the drug. How to take Generic Zantac?
Administer Zantac as prescribed by your doctor. If you do not get the prescription, then it is advised to meet your pharmacist, nurse, or doctor to get aware with the prescription. You are advised to take the medication with a full glass of water. For ensuring that you are getting the right dose, you need to administer the drug with a dose-measuring spoon or cup, not with a regular table spoon. Zantac 150 mg EFFERdose Tablets and Zantac 150 mg EFFERdose Granules should be dissolved in approximately 6 to 8 ounces of water before consuming. Do not stop doses of the drug even if you feel better. Sometimes, it takes up to 8 weeks for healing an ulcer. Store the drug at room temperature and away from moisture and heat.

What happens if you miss a dose?
Follow the instructions of your healthcare providers. If you forget to administer the drug in time, then administer as soon as you remember. And if it is almost time for next dose, then skip the missed dose and go with daily dosing schedule. Do not take double the dose to equate missed dose. 

What happens if you overdose?
If you administered the drug more than recommended, you should seek emergency medical help. Some of the common symptoms of Zantac overdose include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, increased saliva production, difficulty breathing, and a fast heartbeat.

Possible side effects of Generic Zantac
If you experience any side-effects, you need to stop taking Zantac and consult healthcare providers as soon as possible. Some of the common side-effects of Generic Zantac include difficulty breathing; closing of your throat; swelling of your lips, tongue, or face; or hives; easy or unusual bruising or bleeding; bleeding gums; irregular heartbeat; or yellowing of the skin or eyes. There are some other less severe side-effects may arise which include dizziness; headache; or diarrhea, nausea, or constipation.  

What other drugs will affect Generic Zantac?
Patients are advised not to take antacids within 1 (one) hour of taking Zantac. This is because; the medication is able to decrease the effectiveness of Zantac. Notify your physician if you are administering medications including triazolam (Halcion); or the anticoagulant (blood thinner) such as warfarin (Coumadin). Talk to your doctor if you want to consume other prescription drugs during the treatment with Zantac.
