Prevacid is a popular medication which decreases the amount of acid produced in the stomach. The medication is very popular for treating and preventing stomach and intestinal ulcers, erosive esophagitis and other health complications involving excessive stomach acid for instance Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. Before taking Generic Prevacid, patients require consultation with doctors
If you are suffering or ever suffered from liver diseases, then it is advised to consult your healthcare providers before taking the drug. This is because; you require a dosage adjustment or special monitoring while getting treated. In Fact, the 15 mg and 30 mg prevacid solutabs comprise of 2.5 mg and 5.1 mg phenylalanine respectively per tablet. The medication is listed in the FDA pregnancy category B. It means that the medication is not harmful for to an unborn baby. But, the pregnant women are advised to take the medication only after consulting healthcare providers. In fact, breast feeding moms are also advised to consult with doctors before administering the medication.

Administering generic prevacid
Administer generic prevacid as prescribed by your healthcare providers. If you do not understand their directions, then it is advised to consult the concerned person and reveal your problem. They suggest you to take the medication with full glass of water. Advised to take before a meal, Prevacid provides immediate relief to the patients. Some people have problem in swallowing, they can open the capsule and sprinkle its contents onto a tablespoonful and swallow. The applesauce can be taken without chewing. It is strictly prohibited to store the pellet/applesauce mixture for later use. If you do not like the taste of the capsule, then you can mix up the contents of the capsule with pudding, cottage cheese, yogurt, strained pears, or apple, orange, tomato juice and consumed it as soon as possible. People are advised not to chew or crush the granules. In fact, for people who have a nasogastric tube in place, the medication can be mixed with 40 mL of apple juice and can be injected through the nasogastric tube into the stomach. After passing the drug, you are advised to flush the tube with additional apple juice to clear the tube.

Missed dose of Prevacid
It is recommended not to miss the regular schedule of the drug. If it happens, then administer the drug as soon as you remember. And if almost time for next dosage, then skip the missed dose and go with daily dosing schedule. Do not take double dose of the drug to fulfill the requirement of miss dose. 

Overdose of Prevacid
If you carried out overdose of the drug, then it is advised to seek immediate medical help. The symptoms of the prevacid overdose are unknown.

Avoid while taking Generic Prevacid
There are no any restrictions while taking the drug. In fact, you can eat whatever you prefer. But, ask your doctor about restrictions. 

Possible side effects of Generic Prevacid
Like other medications, prevacid may also cause to side-effects. Stop taking medication and seek medical attention if you experience an allergic reaction while taking the drug. Some of the common side-effects include difficulty breathing; closing of the throat; swelling of the lips, tongue, or face; or hives. There are other less severe side-effects may also arise, do not panic and talk to your doctor. Some of the less severe side-effects include diarrhea, nausea, or abdominal pain; dizziness; or headache. Other drugs which affect Generic Prevacid
Sucralfate (Carafate) is a popular drug employed for treating stomach conditions decreases the amount of Prevacid that is absorbed through the stomach. Therefore, it is recommended to administer Prevacid 30 minutes before taking sucralfate to prevent an interaction. Other medication such as ketoconazole (Nizoral), ampicillin (Omnipen, Principen), digoxin (Lanoxin, Lanoxicaps), and iron (Feosol, Mol-Iron, Fergon, Femiron) are also prohibited as they may decrease effects because Prevacid delays their absorption from the stomach. Reveal to your doctor if you are administering these medications. There are other drugs also come up which may interact with Prevacid; therefore it is advised to meet your doctor before taking any prescription medications, including herbal products.
